Discovery Drilling Equipment Ltd. was awarded to manufacture one 2 million pound rated safe hook load capacity drilling mast to be built at Discovery’s facility in Stryi, Ukraine. It was completed in time.

The first week of September 2010 was notable for Discovery Drilling Equipment for the negotiations with the potential client, an international drilling contractor. Representatives visited our facility located in Stryi.

A tour at the factory and implemented Quality System left an excellent impression on the guests and served as a background for further cooperation. At that time DDE had a standard model of СМ650 mast and  SL650 substructure available in the yard. After the review of all structural details, Discovery Drilling Equipment and KCA Deutag agreed for cooperation. During six weeks the offered standard project was adapted to the customer requirements. DDE equipped the mast СМ650 with a traveling block (model number ТВ6507601500). A large scope of work was performed at that time. A good organization, tight cooperation and communication lead to positive results. This fact contributed to a high quality level as per API and ISO requirements, despite huge amount of work and limited time frame. The sixth of November was a red-letter day for DDE. The delivery date was met, all works were performed timely. The DDE drilling equipment conforms to API and ISO requirements as well as to the customer specification. Its structure is full of innovative ideas generated in the result of symbiosis of engineering knowledge and analyses of multiyear work experience at drilling rigs. 

Currently the drilling rig is successfully operating in Africa

Joint-stock company “Orenburgburneft” put into operation a new skidding rig, on Griamechevskyi location. This rig is a Discovery Drilling Equipment proprietary design for cluster drilling in Polar conditions. It is the first drilling rig of such capacity in Orenburg Region....

Discovery Drilling Equipment, Ltd. had a pleasure to welcome guests from the leading drilling companies at The Open House in its’ manufacturing facility in Ukraine during October 2009.

The program of Discovery Open House included introduction of the company Discovery Drilling Equipment, Ltd., its’ manufacturing facility in Stryi (Western Ukraine) and the production capabilities. The international specialists and professionals had a possibility to watch Discovery Crawler Rigs built in yard for Weatherford International, Ltd. There are technical characteristics of the shown rigs: 375 ton/340 metric ton, 1500 HP, AC Drawworks, Ambient temperature from -40˚C till +40˚C, Static hook load capacity: 340 metric ton (750 000 lb) with 12 lines (13/8 Drill line), Set back – 205 metric ton (450 000 lb),  Box-on-box substructure, Multidirectional skidding system – 60 m (200 ft) X & 6 m (20 ft) Y, Fully winterized, 400 ton Travelling block, 500 ton Top drive, 27,5 Rotary table).

There were experienced drillers, engineers, mechanical and electrical specialists, project managers, chief executives and other professionals from oil and gas companies of USA, Europe, Middle East and FSU among Discovery visitors. They were impressed by the huge rig building capacity of our facility. High quality of Discovery rigs and equipment were appraised much. Our guests admitted Discovery to be the only one and unique company in the FSU area that build rigs in accordance with the highest world standards. We have still been receiving positive references.
